Intro to Stone Setting

Level: Beginners
Time: 6pm till 9pm

Over four days you will learn to set a stone by hand, the way it has been done for centuries, and turn a stone into a piece you can wear.

You will learn:

• How to read a cabochon stone and build a bezel that fits it exactly
• Cutting, forming, and soldering the bezel wall onto a base
• Preparing a level seat so the stone sits secure and true
• Setting the stone by hand, pushing and burnishing the metal into place
• Cleaning, finishing, and polishing your piece to a professional standard

Included: all tools, torches, and bench time, one cabochon stone to set, brass and copper working material, one to one guidance throughout, and refreshments.

Materials note: All pieces are made in brass and copper as standard. You can upgrade to sterling silver, charged by weight.

You leave with: a finished pendant with your own stone set by hand, and the skill to set stones in everything you make from now on.
